- Death of Private Vienet. A transport called at Albany for the purpose of landing two sick men. Both were taken to the Forts and one of them, Private G. L. Vienet, of the 2nd Divisional Ammunition Column, died on Thursday morning [Thu 25/11/1915] , the cause being pneumonia. Deceased was only 23 years of age, and came from Ceres. The funeral took place in the afternoon, the remains being accorded full military honours. The hearse, bearing the coffin covered with the Union Jack, was met at the post-office by the members of the different branches of the military service, who, headed by the Albany Band, playing the "Dead March", marched to the cemetery. The order of the procession was as follows:-- Firing party, drawn from the Naval Reserve, under C.P.O Beardon; Albany Band; hearse, bearing coffin; strong detachment of wounded soldiers under Staff-Sergeant Cooper; military cadets; R.A.A.; naval cadets, and a file from H.M.A.S. Cerberus. The parade was under Lieut. Jones, R.A.A. Large crowds lined the streets, while at the cemetery the public attended in great numbers.
