Percy Owen Payze was apprenticed at Stockton-on-Tees, then moved as an "improver apprentice" to Hambledon Mill. He purchased Tidmarsh Mill after he had married Charlotte Chillingworth. Two children were born here, Lottie and Percy; and Martha in 1886. His wife Charlotte died in 1886 and he married Mary Judd in 1889. He then bought Whitchurch Mill and moved into the Mill House. He bought Marsh Mill, Henley in 1903 but lived at Shiplake. Their infant son Reg [Reginald Walter Payze b Whitchurch 1Q1896; d Whitchurch 1Q1907] was not well and family was advised to move to Upper Hill Farm, Harpsden. They rented this place, and after Reg died moved to Ivydean in Henley (house since renamed). They sold Marsh Mill in 1920 to Samuel Kidd, and retired in Henley. [SDT 04 Dec 2010; et al]
