- The marriage of Mr Frank Finnis, Royal Artillery, eldest son of Colonel Henry Finnis, C.S.I., R.E., and Miss Hazel de Lona Christopher, daughter of Major-General Leonard Christopher, C.B., took place yesterday at St James's, Sussex Gardens, W. The best man was Mr. S. W. Finnis, and the service was performed by the Rev. H. A. Herbert and the Rev. W. J. B. Scott.
The bride, who was given away by her father, was dressed in soft ivory satin, handsomely embroidered in silver, the bodice being entirely composed of old Brussels lace (the gift of her mother). The ivory satin Court train was turned back at one corner with a true lover's knot of silver. The veil of Brussels lace (also the gift of her mother) was worn over a wreath of orange blossom, and the bride carried a sheaf of Harrisi lilies, white heather and myrtle. She was attended by three bridesmaids, Miss Muriel Christopher (her sister), Miss Gladys Finnis (sister of the bridegroom), Miss Betty Bowyer (cousin of the bride), and two trainbearers -- Master John Christopher and Master Bunny Farrell Palliser. The bridesmaids wore Princess dresses of pale blue satin, veiled with chiffon tunics of a deper blue embroidered with Japanese silver and mauve Oriental stones. Their hats were of silver veiled in blue chiffon, with high bunches of shaded pink roses. The trainbearers wore Directoire suits of ivory satin with blue sashes. A reception was held at the Great Central Hotel, and the bride and bridegroom afterwards left for Bourne End. [The Times, 08 Jun 1911]
