Notes: The castle was built for Lucius Cary in 1854 and it remained in the Cary family
(large local landowners) until 1924 [sic]. [Sale brochure Jul 2009]
Rented by Charles Meaburn Tatham from about 1912, and occupied by him and his wife during the winter months. Bought by him in 1918.
Was also the home of an Anglican sisterhood set up by their daughter Jessie from around 1916 until some time after her death in 1942.
