    • The funeral of the late Mrs. Watt, widow of the Rev. Robert Watt, for 42 years rector of this parish, took place at Cheadle on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased lady passed away on the 29th ult., at Wigwell Grange, Wirkworth, the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. H. H. Middleditch. The greatest respect was shown in the town to the memory of the deceased lady. On arriving at the church gates, the cortege was received by the Rector (the Rev. E. S. Carlos), the Rev. Canon Gem, of Wirksworth, the Rev. D. W. Williams, and the surpliced choir. The service in church was conducted by the Rector. Mr. J. Lowndes presided at the organ, and the choir rendered the hymn "Brief life is here our portion." At the graveside the service was read by Canon Gem, and the choir sang "Now the labourer's task is o'er." Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. R. B. Masefield, Mr. W. P. Beach, Mrs. Godwin, Mrs. Baugh, Miss Mackenzie, Mrs. Almond, Mrs. Cull, Mrs. Andrew, Mrs. Williams, and Dr. E. Mackenzie. Many beautiful wreaths were sent by sympathetic friends. • W P Beach, present at funeral of Janet Eliza Johnson: two possible connections through Nathaniel Harden senior ( -1842):
      - Nathaniel Harden's 1st wife was Lydia Beach; their son Philip Harden (1793-1850) was 2nd husband of Sarah Caroline Seton (1787-1845), Janet's grandmother;
      - Nathaniel Harden's 2nd wife was Jemima Newcome; her 1st husband was Thomas Lucas; their daughter Jemima Isabella Lucas (1802-1874) was 2nd wife of William Johnson (1806-1885) and thus Janet's step-mother.
      More likely a red herring, looks like = William Partridge Beach, b Oldbury abt 1842, head master of National School at Cheadle, later a schools inspector; marr Catherine Faulkner, Wolverhampton 2Q1866; death reg Stoke 4Q191 age 74.
