- Lieutenant Brian Ernest Greswell, R.N., reported missing, presumed killed, specialized in submarine duties early in 1939. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Greswell, of Oxford, and entered Dartmouth as a cadet in May, 1931. From September, 1935, he served as midshipman in the cruisers Delhi and Devonshire until 1938, when he took the usual courses for lieutenant's rank. He was sub-lieutenant of the flotilla leader Mackay until selected for submarine service in January, 1939. [The Times, fallen officers, 19 Sep 1940]
