    • To The Editor, The Times:
      Sir, -- The articles by your correspondent, Mr. Winston Churchill, do indeed paint a fearful picture of the situation in Biafra, particularly of the sufferings of the civilian population. There is till, however, one fundamental question which remains unanswered. What percentage of the population, dead and dying from starvation, are of the Ibo tribe who are the masters of Biafra?
      There is reason to believe that a very high percentage of the suffering is borne by the minority tribes in Biafra who have no say in the rebellion and are helpless in this situation. Their sufferings cannot be relieved by air or land supplies to Biafran Army depots. They can only await a speedy restoration of order in Nigeria, for their salvation.
