    • The funeral of Prebendary Edwin Mildred Lance took place at Send (Surrey) Parish Church yesterday afternoon. Canon A. Nairne officiated, assisted by the Bishop of Taunton, Bishop Golding-Bird, the Rev. E. G. Hall and the Rev. F. A. Gage Hall (brothers-in-law), and the Rev. D. G. Legge.
      The principal mourners included:- Mrs. Lance (widow), Captain and Mrs. E. Christopher Lance (son and daughter-in-law), Miss Helen Lance and Miss Margaret Lance [b 1917] (daughters), Mr. C. Hubert Lance (brother), Miss Mildred Lance and Miss Ethel C. Lance (sisters), the Rev. A. P. and Mrs. Lance (brother and sister-in-law), the Rev.     • The Rev. Edwin Mildred Lance, Prebendary of Wells and late Provost of Lancing, died at Send, Woking, on Tuesday, at the age of 73. The son of the Rev. W. H. Lance, he was born on January 31, 1862, and was educated at Winchester, Jesus College, Cambridge, where he was a scholar, and Wells Theological College. In 1885 he was ordained to the curacy of St. John the Evangelist, Holborn, and was successively vicar of Langport, Pill, and Barrow Gurney. In 1913 he was appointed Provost of St. Mary and St. Andrew's College, Taunton, and in 1920 he was transferred as Provost to Lancing, the second of the schools founded by Nathaniel Woodard, where he remained till 1926, when he retired. He was appointed a Prebendary of Wells in 1902, and was treasurer of the Cathedral in 1920-21. From 1911 to 1926 he was secretary of Wells Theological College. Prebendary Lance was twice married, and had one son and two daughters. [The Times] [5]
