    • 3rd son of Peter Davey (1792-1879), a prosperous wholesale coal and coke merchant in London, and his wife, Caroline Emma Pace (abt 1799-1868), daughter of William Pace, rector of Rampisham-cum-Wraxall, Dorset. [DNB]
    • Davey & Pegg were a long established firm of London coal merchants, with origins before 1798. They also owned and ran Birchgrove Colliery, near Swansea, from 1848 onwards. Both partnerships were dissolved in Jan 1853. [Paul Reynolds, SWWIAS Newsletter no 69, Jul 1997]
