    • A.B.M Secretary's Son Married. Malayan Guests at Mr. Noel Marks' Wedding. Other Malayans at Home. (From Our Own Correspondent.) London Apr. 29.
Many well-known Malayans in London were guests at the wedding on Saturday of Mr. Geoffrey Noel Marks, son of Mr. Oliver Marks, C.M.G., Secretary of the Association of British Malaya, and Mrs. Marks, with Miss Annette Yvonne Dottridge, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin S. G. Dottridge.
The ceremony took place at St. James's Church, Spanish Place, the Rev. Father R. E. Fairhall officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ermine-white shimmering satin, elegantly draped to the figure. Her long train which (my feminine adviser in these matters tells me) was cleverly cut with the full skirt, was adorned by a box-pleated frill, a big, square collar of ermine outlined the neck, and similar fur-formed cuffs ended the long, tight-fitting seams, while the head-dress was of plaited satin, inset with real orange flowers. It secured a Brussels net veil, and the bride carried a sheaf of arum lilies.
There were two train-bearers in medieval costumes of white satin, and six bridesmaids who wore dresses of hydrangea-blue faille with tight-fitting bodices and long, full skirts sweeping out towards the hems, while caps of double net to tone veiled their shoulders. Similar net composed their head-dress, and they carried bouquets of mixed sweet peas. Mr. Guy Wreford Brown was best man.
After a reception at Claridge's, Mr. and Mrs. Marks left for the Italian Riviera, the bride travelling in an oatmeal-coloured tweed dress and coat, trimmed with leopard skin, and a hat to tone.
Malayan guests at the reception included Lady Birch and the Misses Birch, Sir Edward and Lady Brockman, Mr. H. Lake Coghlan, Dr. and Mrs. Peter Fowlie, Mr. F. Clyde Jeavons and the Misses Jeavons, Mr. and Mrs. Lowther Kemp, Sir George and Lady Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mugliston, and Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Nutt. [The Straits Times, 13 May 1935]
