    • About 1924 the Rev. Talbot Hindley took over St. Michael's Preparatory School for boys, then in Park Crescent, which a year later he moved to Bath Road. In 1926 he moved again to Charmandean, a Georgian mansion abt 1 miles north of Worthing, part of a large estate that was being broken up for housing development. In 1931 Mr. Hindley was appointed to the headmastership of Seaford College. The two schools thereupon amalgamated and Charmandean school was transferred to Seaford, where it became a separate house, called Charmandean Hall. Early in 1936 the building at Charmandean was converted into a boarding school for girls. The school moved to Lillingstone Dayrell, Bucks, in the 1950s. The building with the remaining land was sold in 1963, and 71 houses were built on the site. [acknowledgements and thanks to Charmandean History website, last accessed 07 Nov 2013]
