- Lionel Bruce Blaxland (1898-1976) was a WW1 flying ace, cricketer, schoolmaster and clergyman. He played first-class cricket intermittently for Derbyshire between 1925 and 1947. When a master at Repton, he coached Donald Bryce Carr, another Derbyshire player and the future England captain. He was the great-uncle of the Kent and Derbyshire player James Graham-Brown, writer of plays as Dougie Blaxland.
