    • Henry John Waller Barrow. Born 7 July 1850 and died 1923. Married in 1875 to Florence Ellie Macdonald who was the g,g granddaughter of Flora Macdonald and Alan Macdonald (Flora Macdonald of "Bonnie Prince Charles" fame). Educated at guys Hospital. Assistant Surgeon. Staff 30 Sept 1871: 43 Ft. 14 Aug 1872. Lieutenant Madras 1874. Captain. 1881 at Woolwich (SE London). Surgeon Major 1883, at Newport South Wales 1887. Brigadier Surgeon Lieutenant Colonel. 7 May 1896. R.A.M.C and LSA. Lieutenant Colonel 30 Sept 1891. 1897 Brigadier Surgeon CO 17 HQ Company Medical Staff Corps the Curragh Ireland. Colonel. 25 Sept 1900. Retired 7 July 1910. Soudan 1885, 1886 and at Bombay 1893, at Woolwich 1896. Re-employed during the Great War of 1914-1918, from 24 Dec 1914. Sept 1873- In charge of a Company of the 43rd Light Infantry which attacked and destroyed a party of Moplah fanatics at Kolatare, Malabar Coast, India (SW India-case of peasants against landlords). . He was a great authority on Indian butterflies. A moth, caught by him, is in the Natural History Museum, Kensington.
