    • Taylor, Cynthia Ethel - Elmsdale. Our Mother was called Home on August 3, 2011, with her family by her side. She was born in England August 15, 1925 to the late Ethel Maude (Disher) and Guy Edgar Tatham. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald, daughter Elaine, stepmother Louise, sister Josephine (Beddison), brothers Geoffrey, Richard, and Anthony Tatham, grandchildren Robert, Vanessa, and Martin. She is survived by her sister Vivienne (Vokes) and brother Leonard and his wife Norry, of England. She will be sadly missed by her children and their spouses, Andrea and Raymond (Hale), Frederick and Judy, Normajean and Robert, Tony and Arlene, Phillip and Pamela Joan, Rodney, Pamela and Geoffrey and Alice. Mom loved of all her grandchildren: Suzzanne, Rodger, Richard, Bernard, Jeffery, Linda, Gerry, Leanne, Russell, Tom, Karen, Michael, Cynthia, Amanda, Maryanna, Phillip, Jacob, Jonah, Lily, and great grandchildren: Lucas, Madison, Jessica, Meghan, Logan, Elena, Vanessa, Kyle, Kaylee, Taylor, Crystal, Christian, Celton, Lachlan, Khaden, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as others she considered part of her family. In England Cynthia worked as a maid, drove a milk truck, and worked in an ammunition factory during WW2, when she met and married Canadian soldier, SPR. Gerald Taylor in 1943. At 19 she left her relatives in England and traveled to Canada as a 'war bride' in 1944 on the ship The Andes with her 16 month old daughter Elaine to live with her new in-laws Alberta and Frederick Taylor in South Berwick. Sister-in-law Lottie often talks about how they enjoyed her cheerful disposition and British sayings. She toiled selflessly raising her family on an old farm in Enfield with no electricity for twelve years before she moved to Elmsdale. Places of employment were Cara Operations, the Save Easy, and Hants East Rural High Cafeteria. Cynthia was a charter member of The Enfield Legion in 1955 and joined the Elmsdale Legion in 1957. She was very active with the Legion's Women's Auxiliary, served as president, and involved her family in Auxiliary activities such as trips to the beach, variety shows, Christmas parties and volunteering for special events. Her greatest passion in life was her family and friends and she was always there for them. She enjoyed spending time playing cards and board games, darts, traveling, sewing, knitting, cooking, reading, singing and swimming. At age 80 she was awarded a certificate for completing 1700 kilometres of swimming at the Hants East pool. Cynthia had made many friends over the years and was always lending a helping hand. Everyone who came to her house was offered friendship, laughter, a hug, and something to eat. In lieu of flowers, a monetary donation to your local food bank in Cynthia's memory would be appreciated. We will be forever grateful to the Staff at Serenity Lodge and The Magnolia for providing exceptional loving care to our mother. Special thanks go to granddaughters Cindy and Leanne for attending to Nana's comfort during her last days. Nana would have been so proud. Cremation has taken place. Please join us in Celebrating Cynthia's life at the Enfield Legion on August 21, 1:00 pm with the reception following. Condolences may be set to netaylor@nncweb.ca or at Celebrating Cynthia Taylor on Facebook.
