    Notes
    • Brother-in-law of Joseph Chamberlain: his sister Harriet was Chamberlain's 1st wife & his cousin Florence was his 2nd wife; both died in childbirth.
It is said that Florence Kenrick's sister, Louisa, married Joseph Chamberlain's brother, Arthur; their granddaughter was the author Elizabeth Longford, and their great-granddaughter the Labour politician Harriet Harman.
    • Mr John Arthur Kenrick, who died last week at his residence, Berrow Court, Edgbaston, in his 97th year, had been a well-known figure in the Midlands. After leaving school he joined his father's firm, Archibald Kenrick & Sons, hollow-ware makers, of Spon-lane, Birmingham, and rapidly developed the business. In addition he became the chielf partner in Kenrick and Jefferson, stationers, printers and publishers, of West Bromwich. Before the Home Rule split Mr Kenrick was an active liberal and addressed many meetings. Afterwards he joined the Liberal Unionist Party. He was a Director of Lloyds Bank for many years, and was also at various times on the boards of Nettlefolds, the Union Rolling Stock Company, and Elliott's Metal Company. To the Endowment Fund of Birmingham University, of which he was a life governor, he contributed a large sum; he gave five acres of land to West Bromwich for allotments, and he founded scholarships at the West Bromwich School of Art. Last year he presented to the Birmingham Art Gallery a large number of drawings by David Cox, of which he had been a collector for many years. Mr Kenrick was a leading member of the Unitarian body.
