- The family came to Canada in about 1843 - Nelson George Robinson, his wife and a number of the children. They left Fisherrow, Scotland where Nelson manufactured herring nets. He arrived through Quebec City and settled in Ottawa (Brittania area). He was a prominent businessman, owning a mill, being involved in setting up part of the railway system as well as being Reeve of the City of Nepean (part of Ottawa) in the early 1860's. [10]
