    • Edwin Wheeler, Esq., of Christ's Coll., Camb.; Gent.'s Mag., N.S. XV., 1841, p.534. Peile, Christ's Coll. Biogr. Regrs. says he was adm. pens. 11 Apr, 1837. Age not given. Adm. Scholar (Wilts.), 3 Nov., 1838; B.A., 1841; appears in Address Book as Rev. E. Wheeler, Edgbaston, in Dec., 1842; ord. priest, Worcester, 1842. Not found again until 1847, when he was Curate of Saffron Walden; not found later. [4]
    • Edwin Wheeler was born about 1815, possibly in Berkshire (the LDS website has an Edwin Wheeler born at Hungerford, Berkshire abt 1815 to Thomas Wheeler and Mary. There is also a James Wheeler born to the same parents in 1818). Edwin's marriage to Georgiana Tatham in Greenwich, London 19 Mar 1841 shows his father's name on the certificate as Thomas Wheeler. It also states that he was living in Marlborough, Wilts at the time.
      Edwin went to Christ's College, Cambridge England
      Admitted pensioner 11 April 1837. Age not given. BA 1841. Admitted Scholar (Wilts) 3 Nov 1838.
      Rev E Wheeler, Edgbaston in Dec 1842. Ordained priest, Worcester, 1842. Not found again until 1847, when he was curate of Saffron Walden until 1848.
      Emigrated to New Zealand aboard ship "Berkshire" (reputed to have inherited money from his recently deceased father - mother supposed to be already deceased), which departed England from London on 4 October 1849 and arrived first in New Plymouth, then Nelson where the family disembarked on 30 June 1850.
      Edwin deserted his family in New Zealand in 1863 and I have been unable to find his death. [11]

Her forward passengers were carried to Wellington by the Woodstock, and those for Otago, six in number, by the schooner Perserverance, arriving 12 Mar 1850.
