Britannia, Dartmouth; became Cadet 15 Jan., 1896; Midshipman, 15 Dec., 1897; Sub-Lieut., 15 Feb., 1902; Lieut., 31 March, 1904; retired, medically unfit, 23 Dec., 1910; Lieut.-Commander (retired) 5 Aug., 1914. He commanded H.M.S. Honeysuckle, Sloop, in the Mediterranean, in 1918; and was mentioned in despatches during the Great War. Reverting to the Retired List, medically unfit, 23 April, 1919, he was promoted Commander (retired), 1 May, 1922. He was awarded the Medal, China, for the Boxer War; and a Medal, and the Order of the Redeemer, by King Alexander of Greece, for services during the disturbance at Athens, in 19.. [1917?] [Curtis]

      Note:Frazer (otherwise Fraser) Sandeman was born in Paddington in 1856, the son of a London discount broker. He was in business as a wine merchant but it is not known whether he had any connection with the port & sherry importers George Sandeman & Co. He is listed in the 1891 census as married, occupation not known, the only guest at the Red Lion Hotel, Armathwaite, Cumberland. He has not been traced in the 1901 or 1911 censuses, and no record of marriage has been found. He died in Chertsey in 1923.
