- Milnsbridge Parish Church. Jubilee Commemoration Festival. On Saturday, tea took place in the Milnsbridge schoolroom, in connection with the jubilee commemoration festival of the Milnsbridge Parish Church, when about 300 persons sat down to a very substantial repast. After the tables had been cleared away a meeting was held. The vicar (the Rev. G. J. Tatham, M.A.) occupied the chair. [...]
The Vicar then gave an address on "Jubilee Thoughts." He said that as he was, comparatively speaking, new to the parish, he could not give them any reminiscences of the past 50 years on his own authority, but he had received a register from Mr. Jones, a former vicar of that parish, which contained some very curious and interesting details of Church work at that time. He then read extracts from the register, which were very interesting, and afterwards went on to speak of the past 18 months, when he came to the parish, and said it was the happiest period in his life. With regard to the future, he said if they worked with him like they had done so far, he thought they would get on very well. [...]
During the evening glees and songs were sung by the members of the choir, and the band which plays for drill in the gymnasium, played selections, which were highly appreciated. [Huddersfield Daily Chronicle, 30 Oct 1895]
- Elected Vice-President of the Milnsbridge Aged and Poor Society 09 Jan 1899. [Huddersfield Daily Chronicle]
- His curate 1898-1900 was John Michael Stanhope Walker. Some 35 years later Walker's son Michael Leycester Walker was to marry Helen Myra Meyrick. She was the granddaughter of William Blake Richmond, George Julius Tatham's first cousin.
