- The Will of George Tatham formerly of Cuckfield but late of Brighton both in the County of Sussex Surgeon who died 12 April 1890 at 7 Marlborough-place Brighton was proved at the Principal Registry by George Twiss of 37 Claverton-street in the County of Middlesex Esquire the Nephew and Alfred Morris of the Offices of the Guardians of the Poor of the Parish of Brighton Clerk to the said Guardians the Executors. Personal Estate £25,046 18s. 5d. Tatham George. 3 June. Resworn August 1890 £25,267 11s. 4d. [NPC]

- Dr. George Tatham, of 7, Marlborough Place, Brighton, J.P. for Borough of Brighton, He was b. in 1808; entered Guy's Hospital, London, and became L.S.A., 1831; M.R.C.S., England, 17 Feb.,1832, when his address was Dorset Square, He d. 12 April, 1890, aged 82, at Marlborough Place, Brighton.
"He was appointed House Surgeon to the North Devon Infirmary, Barnstaple, 28 Aug., 1832, for 4 years; he was released on application to the Hospital Committee, Aug., 27, 1833, to become Visiting Assistant with a view to partnership with, a great friend of his, a medical man with a large practice."

From the Obit. Notice in the Brit. Med. Journal of 26 April, 1891, we learn that Dr. Tatham practised in Wandsworth, his address in the Medical Register being in 1836, Putney, and in 1837 Wandsworth, (1 mile E. of Putney) with a Mr, Howell, whose daughter he married,
He appears in the London Medical Directory for 1848 as living still at Wandsworth, and in 1849, as. at Marine Parade, Brighton, moving soon to 44, Old Steyne, where he carried' on an active practice for 30 years. He was made J.P. for the Borough of Brighton in 1870. In 1874, he took into partnership Mr. Giffard, and retired in 1875, For a while he left Brighton, and resided at Cuckfield, co. Sussex, for 10 years, afterwards returning to Brighton, and living at 7, Marlborough Place, where he died. In the 1890 Med. Direct, it is mentioned that he was Member, formerly President, of the Brighton and Sussex Med, Chir. Soc.
"As a Magistrate for Brighton, he was very assiduous in the discharge of his duties, being, while his health permitted him, the most frequent attendant on the Bench. He was a member of the Masonic Body, and his kindly disposition won him many friends, by whom his loss will be deeply regretted." [Brit. Med , Journal, ibid]. [Curtis]
