    • British Naval Officer drowned. From our own correspondent. Brest, Jan. 13. During heavy weather, about 40 miles off the Loup lighthouse, his Majesty's destroyer Wolfhound last night came into collision with a French sailing vessel, the Mirka, bound for Paimpol with a cargo of coal. By a skilful manoeuvre, the destroyer was brought into position to save Catptain Esnault and the five members of the crew of the Mirka. Unfortunately, a great wave swept over the Wolfhound during the manoeuvre, and one of the officers, a lieutenant, was carried overboard. Searchlights were turned on him, but he was drowned before he could be saved. [The Times, 14 Jan 1926]
