    • Eley's Stafford Brewery Ltd. John Bishop operated the Green Brewery, The Green, Stafford, until 1877 when it was acquired by Charles Eley. It was run by the partnership Eley & Tatham from 1887 and Eley, Tatham & Nesbitt from 1894. Eley's Stafford Brewery Ltd was registered in September 1899, "to acquire the business of brewers, malsters and wine and spirit merchants of Eley, Tatham & Nesbitt", at a purchase price of 150,000. It was taken over, along with 150 licensed houses, by W Butler & Co Ltd, Wolverhampton, in 1928 and ceased to brew. Records are at William Salt Library, Eastgate St, Stafford.     • Presiding at the sixth ordinary general meeting of the Parit-Bruas (Malay) Rubber Company, Mr. A. T. Tatham, in moving the adoption of the report, said it was the first year the directors had been able to present a profit and loss account. There was nothing in the balance sheet calling for special comment, except the figures of 4.501 for sundry creditors. That figure undoubtedly appeared large for a small company, but it was more apparent than real, as no less then 3,300 of it was in reality capital, and in due time would be converted into shares; therefore it would not have to be provided for out of revenue. Their stock of rubber was valued at 3,383, and of that 2,400 had already been realised, and the balance in hand, when sold, would show that there was a good margin of profit.
