    Notes 
    • He was upholsterer to the Prince Regent and designed chairs, now in the pavilion at Brighton. He left £60,000. [1]
    • In the obituary notice of his son, Dr George Tatham, he is described as of Huddersfield. [3]
    • Marsh & Tatham (1803-40). William Marsh and Thomas Tatham were a highly successful firm, and attracted many Royal and aristocratic patrons. Charles Heathcote Tatham, whose published drawings of Roman antiquities inspired many designers of the period, was Thomas's brother, and certain pieces supplied by Marsh & Tatham for Carlton House are taken directly from Charles's designs. The firm was one of the most important and influential cabinet making businesses of the early 19th century. [11]
    • According to a family source, Thomas Tatham was the subject of a portrait by Beech who became bankrupt and fled to America and subsequently painted the portrait of George Washington which appears on dollar bills. However:
      (1) the English portraitist Thomas Beach, bapt Milton Abbas 04 Apr 1737, d Dorchester 17 Dec 1806, is not known to have had financial troubles nor to have visited America;
      (2) the American portraitist Gilbert Charles Stuart (né Stewart), b Saunderstown RI 03 Dec 1755, d Boston MA 09 Jul 1828, painted the dollar-bill portrait of George Washington.

    • Ralph Tatham m., 14 of March, 1761, Elizabeth, dau. and co-heiress of Jabez Bloxham, a hosier in Cateaton Street, Cheapside, with considerable property in the neighbourhood of St. Paul's, Paternoster Row, and Westminster. Each of his daus. inherited £30,000. [Curtis]
