    • Interim child access arrangements: Upon hearing the solicitors for both parties and referring to the order of the Court dated 31 Jan 1888 as to custody, I do order that Hallings Tatham the Respondent have access to the child of the marriage (Horace Hallings Tatham) herein at an Hotel at Hastings in the County of Sussex once a fortnight between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. for 3 hours and that the said Respondent do give 48 hours notice as to the day, time & place of such access and thereupon the child be sent by the Petitioner. Ordered 23 Feb 1888, J. C. Hannen.
    • Case heard on 02 Feb 1889 in High Court - Probate, Divorce, and Admiralty Court II - before Sir James Hannen and Sir Charles Parker Butt, with a special jury to try the questions of fact arising out of the pleadings of the cause.
      Verdict of the jury:
      1. That Hallings Tatham had committed adultery;
      2. That the said Hallings Tatham had been guilty of cruelty to Marianne Sophia Elizabeth Tatham;
      3. That the said Marianne Sophia Elizabeth Tatham had not committed adultery with Frazer Sandeman nor with persons unknown;
      4. That the said Frazer Sandeman had not committed adultery with the said Marianne Sophia Elizabeth Tatham.
      Court judgment: Husband's petition dismissed with costs. Wife's cross-petition accepted. Marriage dissolved by reason of husband's adultery coupled with cruelty.
      Decree Nisi 02 Feb 1889. Final Decree 06 Aug 1889.
    • Disputes over alimony, child maintenance and custody were continuing in May 1890. Court ordered 300 p.a. for wife + 75 p.a. for child. Husband's appeal was dismissed.
    • Frazer (or Fraser) Sandeman, the co-respondent in the husband's petition, was born in Paddington in 1856, the son of a London discount broker. He was in business as a wine merchant; it is not known whether he had any connection with the port & sherry importers George Sandeman & Co. He is listed in the 1891 census as married, occupation not known, the only guest at the Red Lion Hotel, Armathwaite, Cumberland. He attended the first annual dinner of the Aberdeen Caledonian Club in Jan 1899. He has not been traced in the 1901 or 1911 censuses, nor elsewhere, and no record of marriage has been found. He died in Chertsey in 1923.
