    • Charles Rudd Tatham: Testimony in fraud cases:
      * Theft from a specified place, 9th April 1849.
      Catherine Parker , stealing 1 5 note; the property of Thomas Goodwyn Archer, in the dwelling-house of Frederick Burgoyne Harrison.
      Charles Rudd Tatham: I am a clerk in the Bank of England -- I produce this note paid into the Bank, on 19th March, by Robarts and Company.
      Cross-examined.
      Q. I believe there are other notes of the same number and date?
      A. No; a hundred thousand notes would have this "W. M." on them -- they would be of this date, but not the same number -- No. 86,193, dated 16th June, 1848 -- there is no other note, but this.
      * Theft from a specified place, 11th June 1849.
      Constance Cleall, stealing 5 5 notes; the moneys of Richard Fossey, in his dwelling-house. ...
      Charles Rudd Tatham. I am a clerk, in the Bank of England. I produce three 5 notes, Nos. 29183-84-85; all dated 13th Jan., 1849; they have all been paid into the bank.
      * Theft from a specified place, 26th November 1849.
      Benjamin Hopkins Bond, stealing 70 sovereigns, 140 half-sovereigns, 280 crowns, 400 half-crowns, 400 florins, 400 shillings, and 400 sixpences; the moneys of Isaac George Currie and others, in their dwelling-house. 2d count, for larceny as a servant. ...
      Charles Rudd Tatham. I am a clerk in the Accountant's Department of the Bank of England -- I produce a ticket containing the list of notes paid into the Bank, by Messrs. Currie, on 18th Oct. -- it is not in my writing -- I have an abstract of the notes in my writing -- when notes are paid in by the different bankers they are marked -- these notes (producing them) are marked "No. 74" -- they are stamped in the regular course of coming in, according to the list of the banker from whom they are received -- I did not receive these notes, I procured them from the library of the Bank.
      [Proceedings of the Old Bailey 1674-1913]
    • Trial for fraud of his brother Henry Edward Tatham & nephew Gerald Hamilton Tatham, 15-17 Dec 1896.
      [at which time Charles Rudd Tatham was dead]
      various witness statements:
      "a large private loan to the elder prisoner by his brother, starting in 1863 -- the principal eventually reached 61,000 -- it was a private affair between the elder prisoner and his brother -- this loan has been a disputed point in the estate; the firm were jointly and severally liable -- there was no document showing under what circumstances the money, was originally advanced -- it went into the business, and was used by Mr. Tatham in the business -- it appears in the books from 1863, I believe"
      "without about 60,000 borrowed from an elder brother, the business could not have gone on"
      "I learned that Charles Tatham had met with an accident that affected his mind ... "
      "A document which is dated September 4th, 1893, and addressed to Mrs. Mary Tatham, the widow [in Dec 1896] of Charles Tatham - she was the committee of the brother at that time."
