    • A correspondent writes:- Among those who perished with the Leinster was the Hon. Arthur Jex Davey, son of the late Lord Davey, of Fernhurst, who after an education at Rugby, and a period of study of languages abroad, chose a business career. His first enterprise took him to Egypt as director of a French sugar business, and at the outbreak of war he was chairman of the Mills Equipment Company, which he had founded in 1906. A keen Liberal, he contested the Guildford division in 1910. He was chairman of the local recruiting committee of Guildford, chairman of the Godalming Tribunal, mayor of that borough in 1914 and 1916, and a J.P. for the county. In February, 1917, he retired from the management of his firm in order to become Deputy Director of Army Contracts, and it was on his return from Ireland after an official visit to reorganize the clothing manufacture in Ireland that he met his end. In 1894 he married Iona, daughter of the late Vice-Chancellor W. F. Robinson, Q.C., and leaves two daughters. There will be a memorial service in St. Margaret's, Westminster, to-day, at 12.15.
