    Notes
    • Grosvenor China was the trade name of a firm called Jackson & Gosling Ltd of Grosvenor Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. It was established about 1866 in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent with the Longton address dating from about 1909. The association with Spode began in the early 1930s, when Arthur Edward Hewitt ("Ted"), of Grosvenor China, was appointed as a Director of Spode, then owned by the Copeland family. The Spode company then then purchased Grosvenor China and the combined company was incorporated in 1932 as W. T. Copeland & Sons Ltd. The Chairman was Ronald Copeland, and the Joint Managing Directors were Ted Hewitt and Gresham Copeland. Just as sons of the Copeland family had earlier played important roles in the Spode business, so too did the sons of Ted Hewitt, with Gordon Hewitt joining the Board by 1955. Jackson & Gosling Ltd closed in 1969 and the trade name was no longer used. [7]
